7-zip is my favourite Zip or Rar file extractor. It’s fast and light and also 64bit. Zip and Rar files were not being associated with the program after I reinstalled the program.

The usual way of associating files –>right click->open with->wasn’t working so I looked in the options and found an association page. This still didn’t work.

• The trick is…as should be tried with many programs if you have trouble…to open 7-zip as an administrator (right click and select Run as administrator).
• Then set the file associations in the menu. Sorted.
