Firefox automatically looks for updates to addons and notifies you about these whenever Firefox is started. Clicking continue every time is a bit of a pain however.

Update Notifier makes Firefox update and install addons automatically with no user intervention. You can check for updates with a click from it’s icon and also restart Firefox from the menu if you wish.
