The official Firefox extensions website has been revamped and it is now possible to group a collection of addons together for syncing or sharing. Today I have added my top ten to the site so anyone can view and download them as a package.
My list is entitled Top 10 Essential Addons by Jonnysblog.com (as the pic shows). I have tried to stick to only the most essential addons. I’ve stayed clear of addons specifically for one or two websites except for customize google (what do you mean you don’t use google?).
Here is what’s on my list (in no particular order).
- Customize Google Removes ads and makes google behave the way you like.
- DownThemAll! A download manager that is easy and fast.
- BetterPrivacy Removes LSO cookies (flash cookies) that aren’t cleared by firefox.
- Adblock Plus Blocks adverts – the best extension ever.
- Smart Bookmarks Bar Customizes the bookmarks bar so you can fit more on.
- Speed Dial Gives you a customizable start page with your 9 favourite sites.
- NoSquint Make the text bigger on any webpage.
- Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out (TACO) Stop the cookies of the major advertising networks.
- WOT Web Of Trust – A website rating tool. Helps prevent you going to malicious websites.
- Xmarks (formerly Foxmarks) For synchronising your bookmarks between computers.
If you can think of any extension that would knock any of these out of my top 10 most essential addons then please let me know in the comments.

Ha Ha that’s okay Pallab! Thanks for commenting, I need to add a Most frequent commenter on here as you are a great commenter that would be top of the list! Whoops, I didn’t add a link to the main point of the article! Genius. Thanks for pointing that out Pallab.

WOT is an excellent plugin, but it gives wrong results also. Two of my blogs were wrongly characterized as harmful and dangerous. But the good part is that the WOT community was quick to respond and re-rate my blogs, as soon as I appealed in their forum.

@PC Security, Wot is great, I’m glad to hear that they are quick to respond too as Siteadvisor was notoriously poor at sorting ratings I heard.
